Ballarat is the envy of many other cities in Victoria due to its education, health, sporting and other facilities. Local businessman John G King has expressed how proud and excited he is with the growing Ballarat community and infrastructure. So without further ado, here are three construction projects MKM Constructions are really excited about.

1/ Eureka Stadium
Last month, the 31.5 million dollar upgrade of Eureka Stadium (Premier, 2015) was confirmed. This will allow the Western Bulldogs a second home that will provide more flexibility than Etihad Stadium in Melbourne. Supporting local business is what Ballarat does best, so it is no surprise Morton Dunn Architects has been commissioned as one of the two firms appointed to redesign the exciting project. The upgrade will mean big events and the best facilities for Ballarat.

“Big sporting events keep our businesses busy and our local economies strong – and that means jobs for Victorians.”

2/ Creswick Forest Resort
Okay, so this isn’t really a construction project, but it could be! RACV has just announced  they have “purchased the Forest Resort Creswick property which from November 1 2015 will be added to RACV’s portfolio of resorts” (Hamer 2015).  This means the future of the building is not so uncertain anymore. The resort is still in the middle of development and is RACV’s eighth resort purchase with other resorts throughout Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania.

3/ Ballarat District Nursing & Healthcare
I mention this one, not because it is in the middle of construction, but because it is already built. The Ballarat District Nursing & Healthcare building was shortlisted for the 2015 Victorian Architecture Awards (Johnson 2015). The facility was designed by award-winning architectural firm Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, and the only Ballarat building to be shortlisted. The Victorian Architecture Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate innovative work in our industry.
