The new amenities block not only gives the park a fresh look but also enhances the camping experience for visitors at the nearby caravan park.
Project Overview
MKM Building Group was awarded the design and construct tender from Bellarine Bayside Foreshore for the upgrade of Batman Park Reserve. The project’s goal was to deliver a modern, functional amenities block before the busy summer season, ensuring the park could be fully enjoyed at its peak.
The works involved demolishing the old building and constructing a new facility from the ground up – all completed on time and within budget.
Architecturally, the design blends beautifully with its coastal surroundings. Distinctive features include wing-like canopies, marine ply detailing, a port hole window, and glazed sliding doors that open to connect the kitchen and bench areas with a spacious alfresco zone.
Inside and out, the facility is equipped for comfort and convenience. Highlights include:
- Integrated water tanks with garden bed toppers to capture and reuse roof water.
- Laundry facilities.
- Covered barbecue areas.
- Indoor and outdoor showers.
- An integrated outdoor cinema screen for family entertainment.

Project Success
The project was a success in both delivery and design. By meeting the tight deadline ahead of summer, MKM ensured the community could enjoy the upgraded amenities during the busiest time of year. Staying on budget meant Bellarine Bayside could achieve maximum value without compromising on quality or features.
Impact
The new building has transformed the park into a more inviting and functional space. Campers now enjoy a premium setting with thoughtful design touches that make their stay more comfortable, practical, and memorable. The integration of sustainable water use and multi-purpose features, such as the outdoor cinema and communal barbecue spaces, encourages community connection and creates lasting experiences for locals and visitors alike.

“For us it was always a risky project in regards to really tight timeframe, we got confidence really early on that we could meet the timeframe. We got to the end of the project on time and on budget.”

Operations Manager, Bellarine Bayside.
