The project was delivered under a design and construct model, allowing for early coordination between design, engineering and construction. This approach supported clear planning, efficient delivery, and a facility built around Elders’ day-to-day operations.
Project Overview
MKM Building Group delivered the design and construction of a new facility for Elders in Bendigo, bringing the business’s branch, retail and insurance operations together under one roof for the first time.
The development includes a ground-floor retail and customer service area, stocked with rural supplies and everyday essentials, alongside a dedicated service counter. Upstairs, purpose-built conference and meeting facilities provide a modern space for staff and visiting clients, with natural light and views out over the surrounding precinct.
The project was delivered in partnership with landowner Adam Poyser and Central Steel Build, reflecting the collaborative approach MKM takes to bringing regional developments together, balancing the objectives of the landowner with the operational requirements of the tenant.
Project Success & Impact
The completed facility gives Elders a single, purpose-built home for a team and set of services that had previously operated across separate sites. Bringing branch, retail and insurance functions together under one roof supports a more consistent experience for customers and a more efficient day-to-day operation for staff.
The new conference and meeting facilities also extend beyond Elders’ own use, providing a modern venue for agricultural businesses, industry groups and community organisations to meet, train and connect, strengthening the local network around the site.
Having one team manage the project from concept through to completion meant less time spent re-explaining Elders’ business objectives and regulatory obligations, and more time focused on delivering the right outcome, a facility built for long-term growth, staff attraction and retention, and adaptability as the business’s needs evolve.

“Having one team manage the project from concept through to completion made the entire process much more efficient and seamless.”
Craig Sharam
Branch Manager, Elders Bendigo.
