One of the standout design elements is the roof, which pitches in two different directions across the structure. A challenge that required a custom design solution to achieve a clean, functional result suited to the building’s dual-use purpose.
Project Overview
MKM Building Group was appointed as the successful tenderer for a design and construct contract, delivering the Netball and Tennis Pavilion at Lara Recreation Reserve for the City of Greater Geelong. The pavilion includes gender-neutral change rooms and was designed with accessibility at its core, alongside two new netball courts, two redeveloped tennis courts, LED sports lighting, and new pedestrian access and landscaping across the site.
Project Success and Impact
The pavilion has become a central hub for local sport in Lara, supporting players, officials, and the wider community. Delivering the project through design and construct gave the City of Greater Geelong a single point of accountability from concept through to completion, resulting in a facility genuinely built around how the clubs use the space.
It also forms part of the broader Lara Recreation Reserve Master Plan, one of the region’s larger community sport infrastructure initiatives.
