Project Overview

Shade ‘N’ Sails specialise in the manufacture and installation of high-quality, custom outdoor shade products, with each solution designed to suit the individual needs of their clients. To support the next stage of the business’s growth, MKM delivered a new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Ballarat that expanded their operational base while also improving the client experience through a more streamlined showroom and office environment. Working closely with Shade ‘N’ Sails, we tailored the building to suit the equipment, machinery and workflows required to produce large-scale shade structures, ensuring the facility could support every stage of the process.

Project Success & Impact

The completed factory is equipped to handle a wide range of in-house capabilities, including fabric patterning, cutting and marking of panels using a plotter cutter, HF and wedge welding, sewing, laser cutting of corner clamping plates, steelwork design and fabrication, and installation. Supporting this work, the Shade ‘N’ Sails team also collaborates with engineers in the field of tensile structures, using advanced modelling and analysis tools to refine performance and design outcomes. By creating a facility around these specific operational needs, MKM provided a practical solution that gives Shade ‘N’ Sails the space, functionality and flexibility to continue delivering quality outcomes for their clients.
